Organised by the Infocomm Development Authority, in conjunction with Singapore’s move to be a Smart Nation, the inaugural Data Visualisation Challenge was organised in 2014. Seeing people from all walks of life with an interest in data, from 16 year old students to working professionals, the competition challenged participants to create a meaningful visualisation pertaining to Singapore’s past and present.
A team from the BACT, Hongyang, Celeste and Liang Yi, partnering Clifton from SAS, created a visualisation using SAS Visual Analytics regarding the history of parks and greenery in Singapore. They were shortlisted for the final presentation at the ArtScience Museum on 31 October, and placed top 5 eventually. Judges commented on how touching the narrative was, as well as the skillful use of different visualisations to tell a story. Congratulations, GreenFingers!
